MISSION
STATEMENT Military Families
Against the War is an organization of people directly affected
by the war in Iraq. Our relatives and loved ones are members of the
British Armed Services.
We are opposed to the continuing involvement of UK soldiers in a war
that is based on lies.
We call on Tony Blair to withdraw our troops immediately.
The soldiers in Iraq and their families at home have the most at stake
in this conflict. For some of us, our loved ones have been killed
in Iraq.
Our brave men and women risk injury and death while our government
continues an unjust war for political ends. We say quite simply this
is wrong.
Bring our Troops Home Now!
About Military Families Against
the War
MFAW was originally founded by family members of service personnel
who had died in Iraq in an attempt to bring the troops home from what
they deemed to be an illegal war.
We now have over 300 families whose loved ones have either been killed
or are on active service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is unprecedented for family members of those on active service
to voice their opinions.
We want the troops home quickly and safely and not in coffins or injured.
Bereaved families were invited by HRH Prince Charles to his home at
Highgrove, this year. Tony Blair has consistently refused to meet
MFAW members.
Military families accept that there can be fatalities. Our argument
is that this war was not sanctioned by the United Nations and troops
have been injured or killed whilst on active service and not protecting
their country from the threat of invasion or attack for which they
took their Oath of Allegiance.
• There has never been enough protective equipment for our troops.
• There has never been adequate medical care on their return
(albeit physical or mental).
• There are not enough troops to re-deploy effectively, as many
are leaving as soon as they are able and conscription is down. This
applies to the TA soldiers as well.
• How can the Government promise to send suitable armoured vehicles,
install suppressant safety foam in some planes and pay soldiers the
sum of £1500 if they can get their friends to enlist whilst
it is cutting £40 million pounds off the defence budget?
