Rose Gentle: Jack Straw is hiding their lies Print E-mail
Written by Rose Gentle
Wednesday, 25 February 2009

Jack Straw said that he would use a clause in the freedom of information act to prevent the release of cabinet minutes in which the Iraq war was discussed. He says it would do serious damage to cabinet government. Does this man not know how much damage it has done to the families?

Good bye war Criminal, Hello hope Print E-mail
Written by Adrian Cousins
Tuesday, 20 January 2009

Today we saw George W Bush leave the White House and we saw people from all over go to Washington DC to see Bush go and Obama become president of the USA.

It was a great day to see this warmonger leave the White House, a man who has caused so much hurt, so many tears and brought a country down. A man that loved to go to war.

So lets hope that Obama will be true to his word and bring the troops home. Lets hope now that he is the president he is not like the rest of the elected government and goes back on his word.

When I saw that man leave the White House I had a big smile on my face - I say thank god this horrible man has left.

George Bush and Tony Blair have now left behind them the power that they had - so lets hope that one day these two men will have to stand up in court and say "I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth"

Shame on you.

MoD to stick with 'mobile coffins' Print E-mail
Written by Pamela Gentle
Tuesday, 16 December 2008

The MoD decision to keep using Snatch Landrovers makes me feel sick to the pit off my stomach.

How the hell can they say that snatch vehicles are safe to stay when even troops call them  'mobile coffins'.

How many lives have been lost when a snatch has been involved?

Have the MoD not learnt anything through the deaths of our troops?

At Gordon's inquest they said if he had the right equipment it would have saved his life.

Well what the hell are they giving our troops snatch vehicles for?

They're not right for our boys - they're not going to save their lives.

If they're that safe why say they're being replaced?

LIES LIES AND MORE LIES!

Snatch Land Rovers are officially categorised as Protected Patrol Vehicles and are used in peacekeeping missions and other operations where troops need quick land transport.

NOT in a WAR ZONE

They are incapable of withstanding roadside bombs.

SO WHAT CHANCE DO OUR TROOPS STAND?

AND IF THEY'RE THAT SAFE LET OUR GOVERNMENT DRIVE ABOUT IN THEM.

Wake up Britain - and leave Afghanistan Print E-mail
Written by D & S Leech
Tuesday, 30 September 2008

I truly believe our service personel should not be serving in Afghanistan, this war has not been won in the past and certainly will not be won in the future.

I believe the public want our troops out and see this as a mindless slaughter on our soldiers.

We have lost too many and I for one have seen the sheer devastation the loss of a soldier has on a family and everyone other person.

This goverment should hang their heads in shame and apologise to the nation for their betrayal of our service personel and their families.

Wake up Britain.

About Snatch Landrovers - From a veteran Print E-mail
Written by Adrian Cousins
Tuesday, 30 September 2008

Dear MFAW,
My name is Barry & up till Oct 25th 2007 was a Ssgt with REME attached to 1st Battalion Staffordshire Regt (now 3rd Mercians).

Regarding the "Snatch L/Rover" I was serving in Northern Ireland (25 Engr Regt REME) when they came into service there first of all.

During their "receipt inspections" we noticed large gaps between the door & the front door post, easily big enough for a well aimed shot or shrapnel to pass through.

The Vehicle was designed & built to withstand small arms fire & offer protection against the devices that the IRA had to offer at the time. I personnally saw the results of one such device which removed all the front un-armoured panel work of the vehicle, the vehicle in my opinion had done what it was designed to do, everybody in side was alive & from what I remember un-injured.

Inquest into the death of my brother Gordon Gentle Print E-mail

Gentles holiday snap
Us on holiday
Well the inquest has nearly finished and so far we have been told what we already knew - my brother was killed for nothing.
Says in the paper it prompted allegations of Ministry of Defence failings. Well the more I hear of this jamming device not being fitted - it could have saved Gordon’s life and was in a store room. Would you not say that the MoD are failing? I wouldn’t say it was an allegation I would say it’s the truth. Wouldn’t you? It makes me sick.

I love my son but I hate these wars Print E-mail
Written by a.mum

They told us they are going to pay us a month in advance & that’s about £750 for recruits but there will be some deductions. First accommodation, food, tax, national insurance & some other bits & pieces after which you will have £250. Then we have to buy our regimental tracksuits £50, then they said we have to pay for laundry & recreational facilities for the entire 6 month training period £170. Leaving us with £70. Wooo!
Letter from trainee recruit to his mother
My son is just embarking on his training, in the infantry. He has been there for 3 weeks. He is determined to see the training through. My son has the need to do this, so do it he will.

It is hard for me as I am against this war in Iraq & Afghanistan, with every bone in my body. Many many innocent Iraqi men women & children have died. Their crime. Living in a country that has oil.
This is a fact. A proven fact.

The Iraq war has produced  the biggest number of military deaths since Vietnam for American soldiers & our British death toll is rising higher & higher. Afghanistan will serve to see a huge impact on that death toll. My son could so easily be one of them.

Today I received my first letter from my baby boy. He is tired & sore but in high spirits. There was a down moment though & this in his words is it.

"So far I have had lessons in law, hygiene, infantry structure, basic weapon skills, drill, admin & my favourite money. Mum listen to this…

Families ask why Snatch Land Rovers are still in use in Iraq and Afghanistan. Print E-mail
Written by Sue Smith
Thursday, 06 September 2007

Families of those who have died or injured, have asked Des Browne, to meet with them to explain why British soldiers are still being sent on patrol or in convoys in Snatch Land Rovers.
The MoD are fully aware of the dangers and know that Snatch offer little or no protection against the type of explosive devices being used in Iraq and Afghanistan. They also know of the concerns voiced by military experts as well as those serving in these conflicts and their families.
There was a review of armoured vehicles in June / July 2006 but this did not lead to Snatch Land Rovers being taken out of theatre.
At my son’s inquest in January this year the Coroner said that it was outside her jurisdiction to investigate whether Snatch should be used. I felt let down by the inquest which only lasted 3 hours and therefore contacted a solicitor to see if anything could be done.
As the deaths in Snatch continue to stack up I and others have been moved to take this matter up with the Secretary of State and on 3rd September we wrote to ask him to meet with us.
There is power in numbers so please email my solicitor Jocelyn Cockburn on: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you want to be added to the list or have information about Snatch which might help.

Our kids are being used Print E-mail
Written by Tracy Offord
Saturday, 04 August 2007

My eldest son is in the Royal Engineers. I was distraught when he told me he wanted to join the army although I understood his reasons for joining. There are no jobs with career prospects in our area, the situation is hopeless for our young people who have no wish to go to university or take on dead end jobs.

Because my son has been brought up with confidence and self esteem being unemployed was not an option so he took a difficult decision and joined the army. Don't get me wrong, I support our brave men and women wholeheartedly, but there is no way I support the illegal war in Iraq or the futile operation in Afghanistan, both of which are using our brave children as political pawns.

The people who are responsible for them being there, (Tony Blair and George Bush) have the blood of hundreds of troops on their hands, we can only pray that our new prime minister will see what a fiasco Iraq and Afghanistan are and get our troops out of there asap.

Military Hospitals: Sign the Soldiers petition Print E-mail
Written by Dani Hamilton-Witham
Tuesday, 31 July 2007
"Please take one or two minutes to fill out the Downing Street petition on behalf of our injured soldiers, bearing in mind we all know what the damage of war can do. Our comrades are returning from Iraq & Afghanistan with horrific injuries to a health care situation that is a joke"
Soldiers statement
Dear All - I hope you feel you can sign the petition below. It's very interesting how I came by it! My son sent it to me!!! it seems that there's a lot of soldiers in Germany fed up with their treatment and are circulating this statement around themselves and supporters. I asked my son if he'd signed it - to my surprise he said that they had a mass signing in the internet cafe at barracks and all the soldiers used their rank name and number on the details section!
Things are looking up - look out Gordon!

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to bring back dedicated Military Hospitals to provide adequate facilities (non NHS)for members of the Armed Forces who are injured or disabled in the course of their duties'

Public Inquiry into legality of Iraq war - our day in court Print E-mail
Written by Rose Gentle
Wednesday, 18 July 2007

The House of Lords will hear our case for an independent inquiry into the legality of the Iraq war on the 11th February 2008.
For 3 days there will be nine law lords considering our case - the supreme court of the UK.
We hope to persuade the House of Lords that there should be an independent inquiry to look at whether or not Iraq war was lawful.

Lets hope the lords don't back down.

Poem - Government Hear Our Cry Print E-mail
Written by Isabella Johnstone
Monday, 02 July 2007
How many more soldiers have to die
Before the government hears our cry?

To send them home safe and sound
And not in a box that you lay in the ground.

How many more soldiers have to die
Before the government hear our cry?

Please send them home without delay
Before any more mothers have to feel this way

Gordon Brown, will you meet with Military Families? Print E-mail
Written by Rose Gentle
Thursday, 28 June 2007

Rose Gentle
Rose Gentle at Downing Street
As from the 27th of June Gordon Brown will be our new prime minister.
For the past 3 years I have asked Mr. Blair to see Military Families, but he has refused to meet us.
This is the man that sent our loved ones to war, so to me this man will leave as a coward.
I have now asked Gordon Brown to meet with us, as we all need answers.
Lets hope Gordon brown will not step into Blair’s shoes and look at the families of our brave troops as if we should just shut up and go away. Lets hope Mr. Brown’s reputation is not the reputation of Mr. Blair.
But this is just to let Mr. Brown know that Military Families will always be here, we will be here longer than any prime minister will be.

Dear Gordon

In a few short days you will be entering the front door of 10 Downing street, and as you open that black shiny door you will no doubt be hit by many feelings, but you will never be hit by the feelings that along with mine, and so many other families have been hit with and are feeling today. The shock and horror of being told that you have lost a beloved son or daughter killed in action or been terribly injured, in this most unholiest of wars.

One day Blair will get what’s coming to him Print E-mail
Written by Pamela Gentle
Friday, 15 June 2007
Pamela & GordonI'm sitting tonight going through some stuff and I came across my fist letter and sadly my last. We got it back when Gordon died.
In my letter I tell him what’s going on at home trying to cheer him up but watching that I don’t upset him and make him home sick. In the letter I tell him “keep your chin up you be out of there soon’.
Well, soon came too soon thanks to Tony Blair.
Yes my brother came home but not the way I wanted, he came home in a coffin.

I’d seen it on the news that morning. A British solider had been killed. I didn’t think much of it. Apart from ‘poor boy - and his family’. I got to work, 2 hours later I have two army men at my work telling me that what I’d seen on the news was my wee brother.

Rose Gentle: A final letter to Blair Print E-mail
Written by Rose Gentle
Thursday, 14 June 2007
Dear Mr. Blair
Just before you go I would like to thank you for the meeting that we did not have.
The one I have been asking you for this past 3 years.

On the 27th June you leave office.
The 28th of June marks the third anniversary of my son Gordon’s death in Iraq.
Three years to the day you and George Bush were on TV telling us that now the Iraqi people have their country back.
Three years on and we still haven’t had my son’s inquest.

I just hope one day you look in the mirror and say, I was wrong.

Blair's war is killing our children Print E-mail
Written by A Mother
Tuesday, 05 June 2007

I have just spent the weekend with my son celebrating his 21st birthday. As a single mother all my life it was a day I waited for. It was a muted private affair. I know many  of you can't spend birthdays with your children after this illegal war and my heart goes out to you.

My son is now a stranger to me. He watched his friend get his head blown off in Iraq. My son's eyes are dead, his spirit crushed, he had no celebration in him and I'm devestated that Blair has robbed my child of a huge celebration of his life.

He makes me sick that he is going on this big victory parade to celebrate what? Killing our children! May god never forgive him!!

Operation Braveheart - A proposal Print E-mail
Written by Dave Godfrey
Thursday, 24 May 2007

Rifleman Daniel Lee CoffeyThe day of the 27th of February brought to an end the life of a wonderful young man, and dedicated soldier of 2 rifles regiment, Daniel Lee Coffey. Age just 21 It also brought with it a huge resolve, a resolve to fight for truth and for justice.

To fight for truth for the people of this country and fight for justice for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, and for those who have been maimed and injured and for those still in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting this most unholiest of wars.

Operation Braveheart is a mission crusade, started by David Godfrey, the grandfather of Daniel, in his memory, for our dedicated servicemen and women, who, in the face of battle have been, and still are, ill equipped and prepared, for such events as these.
The governance of this our country must learn much from the mistakes made, and should admit to making them, then maybe we can all move on to make things better for our country, and the world we live in, and try to make Britain great again, as she once was.

Written by A military family
Thursday, 17 May 2007

I got back from work to hear the news that Prince Harry will not be serving in Iraq along with his regiment and countless other regiments as it is considered too dangerous for him to be there. It is also too dangerous for the troops already in Iraq and Afghanistan - so if that is the case BRING ALL THE TROOPS HOME NOW!!!!!!
