Pte Gavin Williams The Stop Beastings in the Army Website was set up to campaign and protest against the use of an illegal barbaric punishment exercise known in the British Army as "beasting".
My Son, Private Gavin Williams died as a result of his own senior officers in the Army committing this illegal military act without any duty of care.
He was subjected to this degrading torturous punishment exercise on one of the hottest days of the year on 3rd July 2006
Gavin was ordered the punishment by the Adjutant captain Mark Davies for letting off a fire extinguisher at one of his guests at the mess ball in a silly drunken prank with friends one Saturday night.
But should that have cost Gavin his life?

Troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan Don't attack Iran End the siege of Gaza Assemble 12 noon, Trafalgar Square, London "It's now five years since Tony Blair took us into an illegal and immoral war. A million innocents have been killed in Iraq. We haven't heard a lot about weapons of mass destruction since Tony Blair was caught out on that one. We got rid of him but what makes me angry is that Gordon Brown has made no changes and no apologies. Just like Blair, he has refused even to meet the families who have lost loved ones in his war. We must keep marching to let Brown know we are on his case too"Rose Gentle, Military Families Against the War Coaches to the demo... |

James was a changed man when he came home – angry, racist about Iraqis and shut off from family and friends. After two months he broke down. He had been ordered to fire on a crowd that would not disperse and one of his shots had killed a child. Account of a talk by Dani Hamilton of Military Families Against the War (MFAW) to South Somerset Peace Group On 24th July, Dani Hamilton gave us a shocking and heartfelt insight into the meaning of the Iraq war for soldiers and their families. Dani had relatives in the forces and had signed the papers for her son James to join up at the age of 16. She had watched her son change from a loving, caring person into a machine, broken and remoulded by the army. When two years later he was sent to Iraq, she looked into the background and decided as so many of us did that this was an illegal war, but for her this was not a question of politics but of daily fear for her son. |
