Dear MFAW,
Below is a copy of an email I sent today to our illustrious leader
at No 10.
Naturally I don't expect a reply, I have emailed several times, but
it does make me feel as though I am doing something, however small.
I do try to be polite, but it's oh so hard not to start ranting!
All the best for tomorrow Iraq Today, 2 More Dead.
Another two 'notches' on your gun. You are 'saddened', I am devastated, & no,
I don't know the men who died today nor do I know their families.
What I do know is that the lives of dozens more people have forever
changed today.
When are you going to call a halt to this exercise in futility?
What will it take to make you understand that you will NEVER solve
the problems which you helped create in that part of the world?
Did Northern Ireland teach you nothing? Did Vietnam teach the Americans
nothing? It would appear so because you just keep on sending our
troops out there.
In a
country where different religious groups just wish to kill each
other it's a total waste of time & the precious lives of our
service personnel.
I have a daughter serving in Iraq at present & I can tell you
it's my worst nightmare come true. Sleep? I've forgotten how. Knock
on the door? I almost faint with fear. Of course I am in good company,
almost 9,000 other families are in the same boat.
It's high time you admitted that you got it wrong & withdraw
from an impossible to solve situation.
